The event was held at the Rubaya football field located in the Mugote Village, Gishari Cell, Rubaya Sector, Gicumbi District, and was attended by various local government officials, security agencies, Class 12 Inkomezabigwi, who had completed their service, and local residents.

In an interview with Iwacupress.com, Rutikara Hamisi, a member of the group, spoke about the key strategies they used to achieve their goals and the work they completed.

He said: “We focused on unity, collaborating on various activities. We searched for solutions and took initiative. The activities we carried out during our service included building houses for the underprivileged, establishing kitchen gardens, assisting local government campaigns such as promoting health insurance enrollment, among other things.

"We thank the leadership of Rubaya Sector, which was always there to support us during our service. Although we have completed Inkomezabigwi Class 12, this is not the end. We will continue to cooperate with the local government on various programs, including combating illicit substances like Kanyanga and more."

It was a moment of joy and gratitude for Uwimana Chartine, a resident of Gihanga Cell, Rubaya Sector, Gicumbi District, whose home was built by the Class 12 Inkomezabigwi.

She expressed her appreciation for the support of the Inkomezabigwi, stating: “I didn’t have a place to live because my house was destroyed by floods. Inkomezabigwi Class 12 helped me by making bricks and building a house for me. I have four children, and after my husband passed away, raising them was very difficult. But now, I am grateful to have a home, and I have been empowered through their efforts."

“What I received is going to help me lift myself out of poverty, and in the future, I will also help other vulnerable people."

Mbonyintwari Jean Marie Vianney, the Deputy Mayor in charge of Social Welfare, also commended the President of Rwanda, His Excellency President Paul Kagame, for reinstating the Inkomezabigwi program. He praised the Class 12 Inkomezabigwi and all those who participated in the event.

He said: “I deeply thank the President of Rwanda, His Excellency President Paul Kagame, for bringing back the Inkomezabigwi program, which had been suspended due to poor leadership in the country. I also commend the 1,505 members of Inkomezabigwi Class 12 from Gicumbi District, especially the 51 members from Rubaya Sector, as well as all the attendees of this event.

“These members have carried out great activities, including building homes for the underprivileged, repairing water systems, and various campaigns. All of these activities have helped the community rise out of poverty. Even though the Class 12 members have completed their service, we ask them to continue helping us in various programs that support the community's development.”

The Inkomezabigwi Class 12 service program, which had the theme “Strengthening the Culture of Discipline through Self-Reliance,” began on January 13, 2025, and officially ended on March 4, 2025.

In Gicumbi District, 1,505 members completed Inkomezabigwi Class 12, and their service activities included building homes for the underprivileged, improving water supply, raising awareness about health insurance, and more.
