Now in its 21st edition, the camp began on Saturday, August 23, 2025, and will run until August 26, 2025.

The 60 boys and girls taking part are being coached both on and off the court by professionals from the NBA and WNBA.

Kati Matungulu, NBA Africa’s Head of Operations, said the camp is designed to sharpen the skills and ambitions of young athletes who aspire to become top players.

“This is our first camp in Africa this year. It provides these young players with knowledge and skills by learning directly from top NBA and WNBA coaches,” he explained.

He further emphasized the camp’s long-standing impact over the years:

“In the past 21 years, this program has produced outstanding players. For example, Joel Embiid, the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the past two seasons, once took part in this camp. This year, Pascal Siakam was among the standout performers in the NBA Finals.”

Among the 60 participants this year, four are Rwandans: Bizimana Kayira Plamedie, Mwimba Ndoba Gabriel, Mwesigwa Sean Williams, and Ingabire Liliane.
