Nyagatare: Isibo leaders in Gakoma Village say that working towards targets helps them achieve their goals.
They were recognized for this on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, when they were awarded certificates for achieving their targets for the 2024-2025 year.
The event was attended by the Vice Mayor of Nyagatare District in charge of Economic Development, security organs, the Executive Secretary of Karangazi Sector, and others. It took place at the Gakoma Village offices.
Uwamahoro Jovanis, a leader of "Isibo Impamyabigwi" the first-place winner with 98% expressed satisfaction with outperforming others, attributing their success to the active participation of the community members.

She continued saying that moving forward, their plan is to continue working even harder, whether it's improving the welfare of the community, providing better and quality services, and more.
Kayitesi Norah, leader of 'Isibo of Ubutwari' who came on the fourth place, said their plan is to strive to be the best in the 2025-2026 targets, and they are satisfied with the position they achieved.
"We're satisfied with the fourth place, and it's all thanks to those we lead. However, next year, we need to work harder to become the best."
Gakoma Village leader, Sabiti John Bosco, said that before 2012, like many other places, the village was plagued by numerous problems, particularly related to drug abuse and addiction, such as cannabis and marijuana, leading to unwanted pregnancies among young girls, school dropouts, violence fueled by substance abuse, theft, and more.
The Executive Secretary of Karangazi Sector Mutesi Hope said that awarding certificates is a culture of working towards goals without leaving anyone behind.
She stated, 'Awarding certificates to Isibo leaders is a culture of working towards targets so that everyone meets their goals.'"
She continued saying that all 53 villages of Karangazi Sector have set a good example by being exemplary.
The Vice Mayor of Nyagatare District in charge of Economic Development, Matsiko Gonzague thanked the Citizens of Gakoma Village who work together to find the solutions of their own village.
"We appreciate the residents of Gakoma for taking initiative, working together, and showing that when we unite, anything is possible in our district," he said.
"This village started by being the best at the cell level, and now it's the best in the country."
Gakoma Village is one of the villages that make up Karangazi Sector, located one and a half kilometers from the main tarmac road. The village has 274 households with a population of 1,426 people, 11 Isibo , and 62 household leaders.
In this village, every four or five households have a leader who is mainly responsible for identifying and solving problems in the households, and then reporting to the Isibo leader, who in turn reports to the village committee.
